Dr. Antony Harwood

President | CEO | Director

Tony Harwood is an economic geologist with 35 years of international exploration and mining experience mainly focused on gold exploration. Tony was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Montero Mining & Exploration Ltd. in 2009 and took the company to IPO in 2011. Previous to this Tony was the President and CEO of Africo Resources Ltd., a company he listed on the TSX to develop a major copper-cobalt project in the DRC and a gold asset in Zambia. Tony served as Vice President of Placer Dome Inc. for 8 years, a major Canadian gold mining company, before its acquisition by Barrick Gold Corp. Other past professional credits include: Executive Chairman of Universal Coal PLC, which he listed in 2010 on the ASX, and position as non-executive director of various gold companies including; Adamus Resources (ASX/TSX), Endeavour Mining (TSX-ASX), Auryx Gold Corp. (TSX.V), African Gold Group (TSX), and Lappland Goldminers (STO). Currently Tony serves as a non-executive director on the boards of Tesoro Resources (TSX.V) and East African Metals (TSX). Tony was the founder of Harwood International Ltd., a geological consulting company operating for over 10 years. In addition, he held positions as lecturer in Economic Geology at the University of Wales, Cardiff (UK), and at the University of Natal, Durban (South Africa). Tony graduated from University of Wales, College Cardiff, with a B.Sc. (Hons) and Ph.D. in Economic Geology.


Sheri Rempel

Acting CFO

Sheri has more than 30 years of accounting and financial management experience. Sheri started her career with public companies in 2001 and currently provides senior financial and advisory services to Canadian private and public corporations, acting in officer or controller capacities.


Michael Evans

Chief Geologist & Qualified Person

Mike has a MSc in Geology from Natal University, South Africa and has over 38 years of experience as a geologist including 26 years working with Phelps Dodge Corporation exploring for gold and copper in South America and Africa. He has worked in Chile and over 15 African countries where he directed mineral target generation and on-site evaluation of properties. This included the establishment of exploration operations and the development of major exploration programs, as well as the management of feasibility studies on two major projects. Mike is a Qualified Person as defined by NI43-101. 


Ing. Marcial Vergara Montero

Consulting Geologist & Qualified Person

Marcial has over 35 years of experience in gold and copper exploration, generating, managing and evaluating exploration and mining projects mainly in Chile, as he resides in Santiago, but also Peru, Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia and Ecuador. Marcial has worked for major companies such as Anglo American Chile, Codelco, Placer Dome Inc, Compañía Minera Doña Inés de Collahuasi, Shell-Billiton (Chile) and Anaconda. He has also worked as a consultant for junior and mid-tier companies. Marcial is a member of various professional organizations and has a B.Sc. in Geology from Universidad de Chile and is a qualified person as defined by NI43-101. 


Michael Corey 

Consulting Geologist & Qualified Person

Michael has a B.Sc. in Geology and 35 years of global mineral exploration experience involved in gold and base metal projects from discovery to feasibility. Michael is currently VP Exploration with Veta Resources Inc. exploring for copper in Chile. Previous professional positions include: General Manager Exploration for Collerina Cobalt exploring in Chile, Exploration Manager South America for MMG Ltd, Senior Mining Analyst for Tollcross Securities, Toronto, and Senior Geologist – Underground Exploration, Grasberg, Indonesia, Freeport-McMoRan. Michael is a practicing member with the Professional Geoscientists Ontario (PGO) and a qualified person as defined by NI 43-101. 


Geoff Skelton

Consulting Metallurgist & Project Manager

Geoff is an Industry recognized SX hydro-metallurgist with over 30 years of experience in gold as well as base metals, PGM’s and rare and specialty metals, hydrometallurgical plant design, construction, and operations in South Africa and worldwide. Geoff spent 21 years with Impala Platinum Refineries filling roles including General Manager and Project Manager where he was responsible for the metallurgical development of state of the art hydrometallurgical separations processes that are incorporated within Impalas Enhanced Precious Metals Refinery in Springs, South Africa. Geoff has a B.Sc. (Hons) Chemical Engineering from University of Exeter, UK.


Kangi Makiyama Takayama

Country Administrator – Chile

Kangi has over 28 years of experience in Business Management & Administration and is based in Santiago, Chile. He has held various technical, administrative and senior management positions in local and international companies and multi-lateral organizations in Chile and in The Netherlands. Kangi will be working with a team of administration staff working in Santiago and Talca that will support the Company including accounting and land tenure professionals. Kangi has worked for a number of junior and major international mining and exploration companies operating in Chile. Kangi has a B.Sc. from Open University, UK and Industrial Civil Engineering degree from the Catholic University of Chile.
